Un parcours à vélo des plus calmes et des plus accueillants longeant sur près de 25 km la paisible rivière Delisle. Jadis, le niveau d’eau de la rivière étant beaucoup plus haut, on y retrouvait plusieurs moulins à eau servant à différents travaux; moulins à scie, moulins à farine, moulins à tannerie, etc. En longeant la rivière, vous traverserez la municipalité de Saint-Polycarpe.
Plus loin, sur le 7e rang à Sainte-Justine-de-Newton, vous arriverez à un lieu-dit nommé Peveril. C’était à l’époque un important centre de commerce. On peut y voir les ruines d’un moulin à eau où était alors fabriqué du fil à coudre. Ce coin de la région fut développé par des colons écossais. Ce qui explique la présence des très longs chemins d’accès qui mènent de la route à la maison de ferme; mode anglaise d’établissement où la maison se situe au milieu de la terre. Un peu plus loin, dans la localité de Dalhousie, vous passerez devant une église protestante abandonnée, un bel endroit pour une petite pause. Quelques centaines de mètres plus loin, à l’intersection du chemin Saint-Georges et de la route 325, vous passerez devant une des dernières écoles de rang encore en opération au Québec (sinon la dernière).
La chaleur vous accable? Arrêtez-vous à la Plage de Saint-Zotique pour une petite « saucette ». Si vous sentez le besoin de respirer l’air du large, rendez-vous au quai fédéral de la municipalité des Coteaux. À Coteau-du-Lac, visitez le site historique de parc Canada. C’est à cet endroit que fut construit le premier canal à écluse en Amérique du Nord.
Si vous désirez simplement vous dénouer les mollets durant une journée, les amateurs de sentiers plats seront comblés par ce trajet pas plate du tout! Faites la découverte de noyaux villageois au cœur des plaines et apprenez sur ce coin développé par des écossais. Prenez la pose devant l’Église protestante ou devant la crypte du cimetière de Saint-Télesphore. Visitez la boutique de divers produits conçus de laine d’alpagas chez La Belle et ses Bêtes. Enfin, terminez votre route en contemplant le lac Saint-François à Saint-Zotique.

A leisurely, inviting 25 km bike ride along the meandering Delisle River. In earlier times, when the water level of the river was higher, this waterway was the site of numerous water, saw, flour and tanning mills.
As you follow the river, you’ll pass through the town of Saint-Polycarpe, and beyond that, via the 7e rang in Sainte-Justine-de-Newton, you’ll reach the hamlet of Peveril. Back in the day, Peveril was an important commercial hub; today, the ruins of an old water mill that manufactured sewing thread stand as testament to its former activity. The Scottish influence in the region is noticeable in the long drives leading up to English-style farmhouses, which were typically built in the middle of a settler’s land. A little further down the road, in Dalhousie, you’ll pass in front of an abandoned Protestant church—a great spot for a rest break. Not far from that, at the intersection of Saint-Georges and highway 325, take a glance at one of, if not the last one-room schoolhouses still operating in Quebec.
Need to cool down? Take a side trip to the Saint-Zotique Beach for a refreshing dip! Then ride over to the wharf at Les Coteaux to catch your breath and relish the feeling of accomplishment before heading back to Coteau-du-Lac. Take the opportunity to visit the Coteau-du-Lac National Historic Site, home to the first lock canal in North America.
If you’re a fan of flat bike trails and you just want a leisurely ride to stretch out your calf muscles, this ride is flat out perfect! Discover several small towns dotted across the farmlands of this region that was developed by Scottish settlers. Take a selfie in front of the abandoned Protestant church or at the crypt in Saint-Télesphore. Check out the beautiful alpaca wool products at the La Belle et ses Bêtes farm boutique, and cap off your ride by admiring the sunset over Lake Saint-François in Saint-Zotique.
