A longer yet simple out'n'back ride from downtown Brockville to the Socialist Pig in Gananoque for great coffee.
The outbound route follows Cty Rd 2 all the way. Â The return route can simply retrace that route or, depending on time of day and season, return along the 1000 Islands Parkway corridor.
Caution: the 1000 Islands Parkway can be busy with tour buses, RVs, boat trailers and other traffic, especially on summer weekends or peak vacation weeks. Â Cty Rd 2 is a much more relaxing, if less scenic, ride.
The relaxed return route simply retraces the outbound route along Cty Rd 2 back to Brockville, with potential rest stops in Rapid Valley and Mallorytown. If the traffic conditions are very light, a more scenic option is to follow the 1000 Islands Parkway. There is also a somewhat decayed recreational multi-use, shared path paralleling the road, suitable for casual cruising on a hybrid bike with larger tires.
Route options: After leaving the Socialist Pig, you can brave the downtown traffic on King St, or turn right onto Stone St, follow it to the end, and pick up the Ontario Waterfront Trail signed route for a more relaxed return to King St (Cty Rd 2)
